How to Get Started

Obtaining a California Insurance License

File Application

You may file an application for licensing at anytime. However, you must complete the education pre-licensing requirements prior to taking your licensing exam. An application filed with the California Department of Insurance is valid for one year and fees are nonrefundable. You must take and pass the exam within one year of your application filing date. Current licensing fees for online filing: $189.00,

Be sure to print the application and attestation page.

Schedule Exam

Once you have filed an application for licensing, you may schedule your exam. However, you must complete the pre-licensing courses prior to sitting for the exam.

To schedule an exam date, follow the steps above. At step 3, click step 7 instead of step 5 and then schedule an exam date

Pass the Exam the First Time!

By following our program you will increase the likelihood of passing the exam the first time. We recommend the following:

  • Study Workbook – Q & A with explanations (Follow the system shown in class)
  • Study Textbook & Educational Objectives
  • Take the Cram Course prior to the exam
