California Continuing Education Requirements
Prior to taking your licensing exam, you MUST complete 52-Hrs of CLASSROOM pre-licensing:
- Newly Licensed Individual (First four years of licensing)
Twenty five (25) hours per year for the first four years; Thirty
(30) hours every two year license period, thereafter.
- Senior Licensee (After first four years of licensing)
Thirty (30) hours of continuing education every two year licensing period.
To receive course credit, courses must be completed for the license type held. Credit hours are subject
to change without notice. Courses must be completed within one year of the enrollment date.
Special California Continuing Education Requirements
– Part of the CE requirement above not in addition to.
- CA Long Term Care Requirement (All agents selling LTC products)
Those agents selling Long Term Care products in the state of California must complete an eight
(8) hour Long Term Care approved course every year for the first four years of licensing, and
every renewal period, thereafter.
- CA Annuity Requirement (Life Agents selling Annuity products)
This requirement states that prior to January 1, 2005 any life
agent who sells annuities must complete eight (8) hours of annuity
training prior to soliciting individual consumers and four (4)
hours of annuities training every two years prior to license
renewal. Newly licensed Life Agents must complete the eight
(8) hour requirement prior to solicitating any annuity products,
then four (4) hours of annuity training every two years prior
to license renewal.
